TRIPS

For one or two-day guided adventures, let me know what your interests are and I will create an itinerary for you, or you may choose from the following trips:

Day Trips

Introducing Yellowstone

Yellowstone River Canyon

Yellowstone River Canyon

Exploring either Yellowstone's northern or southern loop, this trip will give you an overview of the area we travel through. You will learn about the flora and fauna we'll be seeing along the way. We'll make stops to observe wildlife and wildflowers, birds and thermal features. We'll see evidence of the dramatic geologic events which formed the landscape we see today and take in spectacular vistas. You'll also learn a little about the history of our first national park and those who participated in the early expeditions to Yellowstone Country.

Wildlife and Wildflowers

On this adventure, we will make our focus finding the animals you most want to see--both large and small. We'll look for bison, elk, marmots and coyotes and we'll try to find the wolf and grizzly. Bald eagles and mountain bluebirds may cross our path and we'll see how many bird species we can find in a day. An array of wildflowers will be on display in a variety of landscapes. We'll make stops to find specimens blooming at the time. You'll learn where to look for all these plants and creatures in your future explorations.

Geysers to Mudpots

Castle Geyser

Learn about the Yellowstone hot spot and explore several of Yellowstone's many geyser basins. In addition to the geysers, you will see colorful hot springs, hear the hissing of fumaroles and watch bubbling mudpots. These thermal features are found in a variety of park settings. You'll also observe the wildlife, walk along Yellowstone Lake, travel along four of the park's rivers, and see the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone River.

The Lamar Valley, a less frequented area of the park, is known as the American Serengeti for its herds of bison and elk, packs of wolves and coyotes, and for grizzly bears. Waterfowl and raptors are also found here. You'll take in spectacular views of the Absaroka-Beartooth Wilderness while scanning the landscape for wildlife.

Beyond Yellowstone

Rock Creek Basin, Centennial Mountains

Rock Creek Basin, Centennial Mountains

To the west of Yellowstone are Henry's Lake and the Southern Madison range, the Centennial Mountains, the source of Henry's Fork of the Snake River, and the Centennial Valley. Explore these areas on backroads, and hiking trails. Spectacular views across the Yellowstone ecosystem await you.
